Mary and Lisa are co-owners of the local mural company Broad Brush Studios. They have 20+ years experience teaching art to high school and college students + painting giant projects across the U.S. They love animals, rocks, messy paint studios, and bringing the magic of paint to our community.
Ready to learn a new skill? This summer, Broad Brush Studios is bringing you two fun events: our Teen and Grown-Up Mural Art Camps! No prior experience is needed. We will teach you everything you need to know. Whether you're a teenager looking to find your artistic voice, or an adult wanting to do something fun with friends while helping paint a mural that will be in the community. "The Garden "
The Alumni House mural celebrates the vibrant community of students who learn, grow, and flourish together at Michigan Tech. Like a garden that draws vitality from rich soil, a community thrives through connection, compassion, and the blending of many stories. Rooted in shared purpose and nourished by opportunity, students on our campus grow together. The flowers in the mural reflect the unique cultures and histories that shape and strengthen us.
The Garden was painted by Broad Brush Studio artists Mary Kozmor and Lisa Gordillo.
The artists were assisted by Lindsay Donajkowski, Callisto Cortez, Molly Pelkey, Molly Maloney, Indigo Mile, Caroline Furmanski, Lexi Boutilier, and a vibrant collection of Alumni House student volunteers.

The mural was inspired by the dynamic and flexible nature of the humanties, and by the rich connections that language and literature bring to all of our lives.
